Objective:To understand the current status, cognition and relative factors of antibiotic use in the secondary vocational school, to provide scientific data for the exploration of antibiotic health education, improve the level of antibiotic awareness, promote the rational use of antibiotics and control the abuse of antibiotics.Methods:A unified questionnaire was based on the relevant documents, and combined with the actual characteristics of secondary vocational students, which included the information of school, the professional, grade and other basic situation, and the knowledge of the antibiotics, attitude and behavior of antibiotics use and abuse of antibiotics. Cognitive assessment was divided into 20 sections, out of 60 points. Cluster sampling was used to investigate samples in the two secondary vocational school before May 10,2014. Investigators was unified trained, and a pre-investigation was conducted to find the problem timely before the survey.Data were entered twice into a database by using the EpiData 3.1 software to control the error and were analyzed by using SPSS 11.5Results:A total of 4505 questionnaires were distributed and 4462(99.05%) questionnaires were effective investigated, which included 2543 (56.99%) medicine students and 1919 (43.01%) non-medicine students respectively.The average of cognitive assessment on antibiotics in medical students was (44.1±5.4),while non-medical students was (42.0±4.6), with statistical significance (P<0.01). Different majors, grades, students, the degree of parents had a great effect on the difference of the awareness of antibiotics. Multiple linear regression analysis found that there were a linear regression relationship among professional, grade local institution and the cognition assessment on antibiotics (F=2.934, P=0.013 in medical students, and F=0.000, P=9.531 in non-medical students respectively). The purpose for antibiotics use among the students was cold fever (68.8%), followed by treatment of infectious diseases (48.7%), prevention of infection (40.6%). The reasons for choosing antibiotics were good efficacy(91.1%), then low toxicity (45.1%), and broad antifungal spectrum (38.3%). The first way of getting antibiotics was doctor's prescription (73.6%), pharmacy purchase (61.5%), and home reserve (35%).3621 (81.2%) were standing with antibiotics, and when the symptoms were similar,1015(40.0%)medical students and 666 (34.7%)non-medical students chose self-medication with antibiotics. Only 1144(45%) medical students and 943 (49.1%) non-medical students carefully read the instruction before using antibiotics. Just 701 (27.6%) medical students and 276 (14.4%) non-medical students know that the pharmacy must be equipped with licensed pharmacist under national regulation.1568 (61.6%) medical students and 1063 (55.4%) non-medical students were never asked to show a prescription to the pharmacy when bought antibiotics.Conclusion:1. The overall level of cognitive and use on antibiotics were not satisfying among secondary vocational students. Although the level of cognitive assessment on antibiotics among the medical students was higher than non-medical students, but inadequacy about antibiotics made them irrationally promote use antibiotics.2. The factors that influenced the students'knowledge of antibiotics were major, grade, source land and academic qualifications. Substantively, these factors were related to the information of medical knowledge and had access to the publicity of how to use antibiotic. So it is necessary to popularize the basic knowledge of antibiotics.3. The phenomenon of antibiotics misuse is serious. Antibiotics can be easily opened and bought, the abuse of antibiotics were worrisome.
