Classical Chinese poetry is not only the essence of Chinese, but also embodies the features of China. It is where the Chinese national spirit has been developed from. Teaching classical Chinese poetry for primary school student will contribute to their ethnical and intellectual improvement as they are at their key period of human growth. The education of classical Chinese poetry for primary school student should focus more on appreciating poem, however the reality of test-training education in China lead to the ignorance of beauty of classical Chinese poetry, which is the weak part of primary school classical Chinese poetry education. With such research background, I take the First Primary School in Yakeshi City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as the example to elaborate current situation of and questions existed in the classical Chinese poetry education. Through analyzing teachers, teaching methods and studying patterns of the students in the school on the basis of related theories, I raise practical and accessible suggestions on improving the effectiveness of classical Chinese poetry education. By focusing on the development of teachers'overall qualities, enforcing the building of scene-teaching, highlighting the role of chant in poetry education, encouraging self-learning and group-learning and developing comprehensive student evaluation system that features innovation and diversification, the poem lessons will be greatly enriched and the teaching activities will shift from knowledge-orienteers to student-oriented, stimulating their initiatives in learning classical Chinese poetry and helping them to explore the connotation of these works.
