There are a variety of natural disasters with extensive distribution and great damage, which take place frequently in China. So the disaster prevention and mitigation receive serious attention from the government, society and the public. As an important part of disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster education also received more attention. "International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction," pointed out: "Education is the center of the plan of disaster mitigation, so knowledge is the key to the success of disaster mitigation." This reflects that school is the main place for the implementation of disaster education. The theme of International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction in 2006 is "Disaster Reduction began in school," which reflects the key role of school education in disaster prevention and mitigation. The form of disaster education in school is mainly teaching. Among all subjects of high school, only geography is the subject which studies the relationship between human activities and geographical environment. Geography textbook of high school contains rich knowledge of natural disasters, and their contents relate to the process and prevention of natural disasters. So undoubtedly geography is not only the main front of teaching disaster education in high school, but also the main way to cultivate and improve students' disaster prevention literacy. So school should take full use of geography in the great disaster education.This paper uses the documentation method, questionnaire and mathematical analysis to explain the current situation of geography disaster education of high school and to propose specific teaching strategies. Firstly, using documentation method to sort out the current situation and background of disaster education, and clarify the basic concepts about disaster education. Secondly, analyzing the basic situation of high school students through a questionnaire, which including responses' disaster experiences, disaster drills situation, the sources of disaster knowledge and skills, disaster preparedness, family education of disaster prevention; explaining the present situation of implementation geography disaster education in high school and testing total disaster prevention literacy of high school students; the result showed that geography disaster education in the high school was relatively weak, disaster prevention literacy of high school students was not high and the students were lack of knowledge of disaster prevention. Thirdly,this paper combined with mathematicalanalysis tools, explained the impact of three factors grade, sex, region on disaster prevention literacy of high school students.Finally, for the present situation of disaster prevention literacy of high school students is not high, teaching activities inquiry and case analysis was proposed to improve disaster prevention literacy of high school students in the geography classroom. We could combine practice drills and local geography,turn disaster knowledge and attitude into disaster skills, and write the teaching cases about heavy rain and high temperature through integrating students' experiences.Disaster education is the education for all citizens; high school is a good period for students to gather the knowledge of disaster prevention, and to cultivate disaster prevention skills. Through geographical teaching, it's easier for future citizens to cultivate necessary geography literacy which including disaster prevention and to enhance the students' survival ability. Geography educator should try their best to make contribution to the disaster education, start from now, starts from me.
