With the rapid development of economy and information technology, the relations between countries is increasingly getting closed, and which has directly opened a new trend of learning English. English is not only a second language, but also a kind of subject. In this context, English teaching becomes the important content of the curriculum reform of elementary education. Minority Bilingual Education of China can't meet the demand of our society. Therefore, our country started to teach English in the ethnic minority areas. However, minority students in our country should command two languages, the one are their mother tongues, the other is Chinese. As a result, English becomes their third language, and the learning process is different from those whose mother tongue is Chinese. To ethnic minority students, the third language learning acquisition needs further development.Teaching minority students English started from the 90th in Xinjiang, and each region opened the English class according to the various aspects like the teaching condition of that area. In 1996, the first bilingual class was opened in Yining, Xinjiang. And they opened an English class at the same time using the same English teaching material as the Han class. It has been 20years for Yining city to develop English teaching for minority students, but the speed of development is not promising, because of the various influential elements.This paper will investigate the English learning situation of Uyghur students in Yining, through the methods like questionnaires?interviews?observations and the literature research. And this paper will find the problems existed on the basis of the investigation results, and relative countermeasures. As well as, suggestions will be given under the analysis of the problems. This paper will provide the English education for Uyghur students in Yining with effective materials and experiences.This paper includes five separate parts.The first part is the introduction part. The research background?the significance> the research overview^ the related concepts and research designs are given by combining different research perspectives.The second part will summarize these following aspects. A profile of Yining city middle school bilingual class and a profile of English education in middle school bilingual class of Yining city.The third part is about the investigation analysis. We delivered the questionnaire to the No.2?3?7?8?11 bilingual schools, summarizing the current problem of English learning and presenting the problems existed.The fourth part will analyze the problems of English learning situations.The fifth part will put forward the related countermeasures to improve the English learning quality of the bilingual class students in Yining city.The sixth part is the conclusion part. Related research generalizations and summary will be given in this part.
