Research On Current Situation Of Optometry Education And The Development Sstrategy

Optometry is very important to people's optic health. In America, many countries in Europe and Australia, people pay much attention to optometry. In these countries, optometry has developed for a long time, so the rules are sound,the market is mature. In China,we developed optometry much later than America,people don't think highly of optometry. As results, staffs in optometry industry have low levels, the service quality is not high, they cann't guarantee the consumers' optic health. In this article, we analyze optometry education models in China, compared with international education experience and methods,think about the needs of optical talents, tell the strength, weakness, opportunity and threaten, find out the problem in Chinese optometry education. In the end, make suggestions for both schools and government to improve. Through these ways, improve the quality and quantity of optometry talents, standardize the development of optometry industry, guarantee consumers' optic health.When analyzing different models home and abroad, we use case study to see the differences and features. In the process of analyzing optometry talents' needs, we compare the talents' needs with the companies' needs creatively. Find out the differences between two types of needs, modify them through optometry education.There are three aspects about the educational problems. Firstly, domestic optometry training scale is insufficient, teaching direction is narrow, cann't meet the needs of society. Secondly, the definition and boundary are not clear, the content is mixed. Lastly, the teaching materials cann't support the education, the books are old, cann't meet the requirements of development. In this article, we suggest optometry schools should expand the teaching scale, enrich the teaching contents and emphasize on the teachers. The government should make policy support, modify the major catalogue, standardize the connotation, see highly of the teaching team and training base, build rules for staffs to promote and provide chances for workers to get high degree.
