| The informatization of the social life and the globalization of the economy make English increasingly prominent.In the development of many countries’ basic education,English education is put in a prominent position.The New Curriculum Standard states that the tasks of English Curriculum in elementary education stage is: to stimulate and develop the students’ interest of learning English;to enable the students to build their self-confidence and form good learning habits as well as effective learning strategies;to develop their ability of autonomous learning and cooperation spirit;to cultivate students’ observation,memory,thinking,imagination ability and innovation spirit.All these are designed to lay a good foundation for their life-long learning and development.With the further implementation of the new curriculum reform,more and more teachers and educators have the conscious that the traditional teaching model,which is characterized by teacher-centered teaching activities,could not fulfill the task of the curriculum standard.Therefore they began their effort in the exploration of a new teaching model which can meet the demands of the quality-oriented education.After a long time of pursuit by educators and teachers,the learning plan guided teaching model,based on the Construct Learning Theory and Humanistic Learning Theory,came into being in the late 1990 s.Up to now,the learning plan guided teaching model has been advocated in lots of Chinese schools from primary schools to senior high schools,and the students have benefited a lot.This thesis aims to have an investigation into the students’ and the teachers’ attitude towards the learning plan;the current situation of the application of the learning plan in junior middle school English classes,and find out the major problems and try to suggest some solutions to these problems existing in the process of application of the learning plan.The author has collected the data by questionnaire,interview with the teachers and students respectively,and classroom observation.316 students from six classes of different levels and 10 English teachers in Grade eight are included as the research subjects in this thesis.The data shows that most teachers and students like this teaching model.They are willing to use it in the daily English teaching and learning and there are great changes brought by the learning plan:students have better habits of learning English;students’ learning autonomy is improved gradually;the cooperative ability among the students are improved;both the teaching efficiency and learning efficiency are improved.However,there are problems during the process of applying the learning plan: some teachers are used to the traditional teaching model,and they don’t like the new teaching model;there is much room for the improvement of the design of the learning plan;both the teachers and the students feel that there is much load for them after using the learning plan and they would feel tired about it.Finally,some suggestions are proposed for the purpose of better implementing the learning plan.Firstly,the learning plan should be designed and compiled more scientifically.Secondly,teachers should supervise students’ usage of the learning plan.Thirdly,both the teachers and the students should reflect themselves after using the learning plan. |
