The Evolution Of Remedial Education In Modern China

At present,with expanding educational needs and growing investment,remedial education is increasingly favored by the community.It becomes a hot issue among educational researchers.How to correctly understand the advantages and disadvantages of remedial education needs to take in-depth analysis,establishment and development of it from the view of history.It can not only enrich the historiography of education research on remedial education,but also provide historical reference for compensatory education under the new situation.This paper adopts documentary study as the first-hand data from recent academic historical materials,such as newspapers,magazines,archives to explore the formation,establishment and development of the three historical periods of remedial education from late Qing Dynasty,Northern Warlords Government to National Government,then to deeply analyses the causes of establishment,the main forms and the initial state of all types of remedial education in the first period;the establishment conditions,the signs and all kinds of remedial education development in the second period;the historical opportunity and the development status of remedial education in the third period.Studying on the process of remedial education in recent China's history,we find that it is comprehensive and extensive,flexible and diverse,full of charity and welfare,which can be adopted as a reference.However,many problems and contrasts of it make us rethink profoundly.So far,although great changes of remedial education have taken place,the history can be learned.Development of contemporary remedial education should be moderate.Everyone should respect personality,individualize children's learning,adjust measures,and promote fairness and advocate lifelong remedial education.
