Reading is the basic way and means for human beings to acquire knowledge, it's the main method to improve humanistic quality and spiritual culture, it has an important function in educating people. The party and the government attach great importance to the nationwide reading, in the party's eighteen report, it puts "carry out the nationwide reading activities" as an important part of enriching people's spiritual and cultural life, the government work report also "advocate nationwide reading" for many years. Therefore, advocate reading not only promote the development of the ideological and political education in the new period, but also play an important role in improving the whole nation's cultural quality.Reading practice is a variety of practical activities which based on reading, it is an effective teaching methods of ideological and political theory course, and have great significance for improving the teaching quality. Books contain rich ideological and political education resources, since the reading practice has been introduced into the ideological and political theory courses, by drawing on the successful experience of other disciplines and educators' hard exploration, it has made a substantial breakthrough. But there are still exist some deficiencies which need to be improved, mainly as follows:the understanding of the concept of reading practice is not comprehensive, the carrier and the form is relatively single, the reading contents is too theoretical, the reading ability need to be improved, the management system of reading practice teaching needs to be perfect and so on.After analyzed the researches from domestic and foreign scholars thoroughly, the article discussed the meaning, the characteristics, the functions, the original theories of reading practice in ideological and political theory course in university. Based on the analysis of the application situation, focusing on further enhance the effect of the reading practice in ideological and political theory course, the article putting forward corresponding countermeasures, believing that we should persist in the combination of taking teachers as the guidance and students as the subject to update the concept of reading practice; persist in combining tradition and innovation to expand the methods of reading practice; persist in combining dominance and diversity to enrich the content of reading practice; persist in combining education and self education to improve the ability of reading practice; persist in combining teaching and management to enhance the mechanism of reading practice.
