With the developing of the reform in education, students'specific development and improvement begin to catch educators' attention. With the gradual development of urbanization in China, English teaching has become a big challenge to English teachers in urban-rural senior high school. However, the urban-rural area is a special location. It benefits from the economic development policies, and is also affected by the increase enrollment of schools. Some residents of urban-rural areas are impacted greatly by the uninformed thinking that knowledge is useless, so their average educational background is poor. What's more, so many left-behind children live in urban-rural areas. Most of the children's parents work outside from the home for better payment and leave the children with their elder relatives. The education in urban-rural area is the important link to the education in China, the problems of urban-rural schools and the teachers'professional development in our country relates not only to the development of the English education of urban-rural area in our country, but also to the prospect of the whole education enterprise in our country. Therefore, trying to solve the present situation and exploring the strategies to promote the English teaching quality in urban-rural schools are especially important, which can promote the professional development of teachers who are working in the senior high school in urban-rural area and promote the educational level of our country.Basing the background of teacher professional development, this thesis is based on the definition of teaching strategy and chooses five senior high schools as research objects with the characteristic of urban-rural senior high schools to distribute 87 questionnaires (79 valid questionnaires). They respectively are Liuzhou No.9 middle school, Liuzhou No.40 middle school, Liuzhou national high school, Liuzhuu new century high school and Liujiang country middle school.By using SPSS to analyze, the result of questionnaire shows that:(1) Urban-rural English teachers have a poor preparation for a class, and they have incomplete understanding of English curriculum standard and requirement. (2) Urban-rural English teachers have a poor performance during a class, and their educational background can affect their teaching performance. (3) Urban-rural English teachers still attach great importance to after-class feedback, while their schools do not pay enough attention to teachers'after-class evaluation.According to the findings, some suggestions are put forward to urban-rural senior high schools:(1)Setting clear teaching management measures; (2)Forming scientific teachers' evaluation system; (3)Holding more academic seminars; (4)Carrying out school-based research; (5)Arousing the enthusiasm of teachers'professional development.Some suggestions are provided to urban-rural English teachers:(1) Self-reflection of English teachers regularly; (2) Development of the teaching strategy of English teachers in practice teaching; (3)Cooperative learning; (4)Cooperation with students and parents; (5)Perfecting design of teaching steps; (6) Making use of the teaching process of interaction.
