As we enter the 21 st century,building a learning society has become an important strategic move for every country.In the society,the demand for innovative talents who have the quality of creativity and scientific literacy has been increased more and more.Secondary education is a crucial stage of education,especially science teaching.Physics,as a discipline based on the rational science,plays an important role in developing different abilities of students.The cognitive ability of students can be cultivated and improved very well by means of learning physical knowledge which is in accord with students' cognitive structures.The thesis consists of six parts,including introduction,theoretical basis,definition of the concept,research analysis,solution to the issue of the research,and the application of the solution in the teachin.At first,it clarifies background of the study and points the demand for talents who have the quality of creativity and scientific literacy in the society.It emphasizes the importance of developing talents by learning physical knowledge.That is the purpose and significance of the research.In the concrete process of the research,the main instruments involves documentary research,observation,interview and questionnaire.The research regards cognitivism learning theory and constructivism learning theory as the theoretical bases.At the same time,it uses some research situations about physical knowledge learning and students' cognitive abilities abroad and at home for reference.According to the requirements,teaching aims,and teaching methods in the Physics Curriculum Standard and Outline of Basic Education Curriculum Reform,the researcher designs the table of concrete items in the classroom observation,makes the content of interview in the personal interview of the teacher,and sets up the questions of questionnaire in the survey.After defining the concepts of physical knowledge,physical knowledge learning,cognitive ability,and the relationship between physical knowledge learning and cognitive ability cultivating,the research focuses on the teaching behavior of teachers,the current situation of learning in physical knowledge and of students' cognitive abilities in one senior high school in Lushun.Based on the theories and the teaching practice of the researcher,it makes an integration anddiscussion about issues of the research.Moreover,the researcher presents some relevant solving strategies from several different perspectives,such as students' curiosity and interest of learning physical knowledge,identification of physical concepts for students,operational and inquiry ability of students in the physical experiment,linking theory with practice in the life-oriented teaching mode,and exercise class.It attempts to apply these solving strategies in the classroom teaching,build a good cognitive construction in physics of students,and cultivate the cognitive abilities of students in physical knowledge learning.
