The purpose of the research was to investigate the learning adaptability, mental health and academic performance of the boarding primary school and non-boarding pupils,To explore and analyze and compare the differences in both the learning adaptability, mental health and academic performance from the group characteristics of the boarding and non boarding pupils. To provide empirical basis for the training and education of boarding children.Cluster sampling the upper grades of students of Bo Cai Primary School boarding section and non-boarding section as the research objects. All the subjects were assessed with the academic adaptive test (AAT) and Mental Health Test (MHT), and then collect their school records of middle semester Chinese and math. And, eight children (including four boarding pupils and four non-boarding pupils) were interviewed as auxiliary evidence.Research shows that:(1)In the studying independence, the Boarding pupils' learning adaptability of independent dimension was significantly higher than non-boarding pupils. The non-boarding boys' total mental health was significantly better than the boarding boys; The fifth grade Boarding girls'adapt studying independence and persistence was significantly better than the non-boarding girls. The boarding group of fifth-grade's home environment and persistence was significantly higher than the boarding group of fifth-grade, The sixth grade boarding student's independent factor of Learning Adaptability was significantly better than sixth grade non-boarding student. It's total mental health was significantly lower than the boarding group of sixth-grade student. (2)In mental health, boarding pupils mental health score was significantly higher than the non-boarding pupils, it's mental problems of the detection rate was significantly higher than the latter. The further finding in the mental health score based on the gender that, the total MHT score of boarding boys was higher than non-boarding boys. Also the same in study anxiety and blame tendency, allergy tendency, physical symptoms, terror tendency and the impulse tendency, the boarding boys significantly higher than the non-boarding boys; and in the blame tendency, allergy tendency, physical symptoms, terror tendency and the impulse tendency. As well as the boarding girls were significantly higher than the non-boarding girls. In grade differences, mental health score, blame tendency and allergy tendency of boarding fifth-grade group was significantly higher than the boarding group of fifth grade; boarding sixth-grade group's mental health score, study anxiety and blame tendency, allergy tendency, physical symptoms, terror tendency and the impulse tendency was significantly higher than non-boarding sixth-grade group. (3)In academic performance, Chinese scores and math scores of boarding students were significantly better than the non-boarding pupils. Further analysis found, Chinese scores and math scores of boarding boys were significantly higher than the non-boarding boys. Chinese scores and math scores of fifth-grade student were significantly higher than the non-boarding fifth-grade student. Chinese scores of sixth-grade student were significantly higher than the non-boarding sixth-grade student. There is no significantly different in Both Math scores.The research shows that:(1) The Boarding pupils'learning adaptability of independent dimension was significantly higher than non-boarding pupils. (2) The boarding boys'mental health level was lower than the non-boarding boys', it's mental problems of the detection rate was significantly higher than the latter. (3) The academic records of boarding student is better than the non-boarding student.
