In Tibet, according to natural features, the way of people's life and population distribution, the country decided to establish boarding schools, practices show that the form of boarding is the most appropriate way to the popularization of Compulsory Education in minority areas.Later,as the results of the campaign of construction western China, the policy of canceling teaching centers and merging primary and middle schools in the rural areas and the left-behind children, the boarding system has been widely spread all over the country. But for the impact of boarding school, many studies have pointed out that boarding school students have various mental health and behavior problems, which affect the healthy growth of students. Therefore, concerning the students' health the study focuses on the pupils of grade3-6 in boarding primary school, from the view of pupils' emotional needs. This paper will define the emotional needs as "belonging needs","family needs","friendship needs" and "esteem needs",so in the questionnaire we would investigate in four dimensions. Then respectively chose a boarding school in Changdu,Nyingchi,Naqu,Lhasa,Shigatse as sample.Combined with field investigation in D primary school in Lhasa to deeply understanding the theme, including interviewing with school administrators, teachers and students, and observing their behavior and learning performance.Data show that Tibet rural boarding pupils have all four emotional needs, but showing different demand degree,in all aspects of the whole:(1)among all dimensions the “friendship needs” gets the highest score, while the " belonging needs " scores the lowest, implicating that of boarding school students generally do not have a sense of belonging. The students' happiness level in boarding school is higher, just lower then the "friendship needs";(2)the "belonging needs" and "family needs" indicate significant negative correlation at 0.05 level;(3)different grades students show different trends in the four dimensions of emotion;demand data for male and female students show no gender differences, but girls scores higher than boys in four dimensions;(4)school-time affects the students "belonging","friendship","esteem",the longer the period is,the score lower in the three dimensions. The conditions of boarding schools have been greatly improved under the support of abundant policies, but students still "miss families",and in teachers' perspective, students' learning enthusiasm is not strong enough. The healthy development of education depends on the supply on educational supports in policies, finance and institutions. At present, the boarding school is still necessary in many areas,so it is imperative to adjust the boarding school education according to the needs of students, and improve the development of boarding schools and students.Reflecting the education in boarding schools from the view of students' emotional needs, considering the boarding students' age, gender and school-time period and other factors,we hope to adjust the school education and management in order to meet the emotional needs of students in boarding school and practice "people-oriented" philosophy of education, maybe it could improve the learning enthusiasm of students, giving full play to the national and local government policies and financial supports, improve the quality of education and promote the healthy educational development in Tibet area.
