A SWOT Research On The Prospect Of The Development Of Amateur Table Tennis Clubs In Datong

Sports clubs firstly originated from Europe a hundred years ago, and as time goes,different levels and kinds of amateur table tennis clubs in China have received rapid development. After the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2008, a new round of national body-building craze is quietly rising. Now the development of amateur table tennis clubs can not stop and it still has a huge space. In the meantime,it should be noticed that the development of the amateur table tennis clubs has its own weaknesses: firstly, there are many shortcomings from the perspective of longitudinal and sound management system; secondly, as for the geographical location, the gap between the development of first- and second-tier cities and third-tier cities is very obvious, and at the same time, there is also a obvious gap between the development of the eastern coastal cities and laggard central and western towns. Datong belongs to the third-tier cities, and in recent years it has been paying attention to the development of sports cause. The literature related to the development of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong is very scarce, therefore, analyzing the prospect of the development of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong by the method of SWOT can not only know its present situation, but also know the gap between its development and that of the firstand second-tier cities. This can provide a solid theoretical foundation for the Datong's goal of building a livable city, constructing a sports city,enriching sports culture,meeting people's spiritual culture.This paper uses the methods of SWOT analysis, literature, interviews, etc, with16 amateur table tennis clubs as the research subjects. The status of the development of the 16 amateur table tennis clubs is concluded by interviewing local experts from the relevant sectors and investigating managers, members and coaches through a questionnaire. Then this paper makes use of the SWOT analysis method to find out the internal and external advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and threats so that it can infer the prospects of the development of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong.In order to promote the better development of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong,the conclusions drawn are as follows.First of all, in recent years, sports in the form of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong has won initial success and promoted the development of table tennis in the city. Secondly, a variety of amateur table tennis clubs are distributed densely; the development of amateur table tennis clubs of various counties within the city is not optimistic; The registration formalities are not perfect; the exchanges and cooperation between all kinds of clubs did not get the expected effect. Furthermore, the level of the rules and regulations of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong is generally low, and some of the existing rules and regulations already cannot meet the demands of club's operation; the fee system of various clubs is unreasonable and the source of funding is single. The old members of amateur table tennis clubs in Datong are mostly young and male lovers; the growth rate of the new recruited membership is generally not high; the resources of coaches are scare; there exist unreasonable phenomenon in coaches echelon construction and the coaching level of existing coaches needs to be improved. These problems seriously affect the development of Datong's amateur table tennis clubs.According to the above conclusions, suggestions are as follows: Sports Bureau and table tennis association will greatly support various amateur table tennis clubs,define their own position in the market, perfect rules and regulations, appropriately expand the scale of operation, pay more attention to coaches of table tennis and strengthen propaganda for young and middle-aged people.
