Research On The Motives Of The College Student Volunteers

The motive of the college student volunteers drives them to participate the volunteerism.The effect of the volunteer action has a close relation with students' motivations,and varies according to their incentives.The motives of the college student volunteers affect the sustainable developments of the volunteerism.Therefore,researches on the motives of the college student volunteers have a great actual significance.This thesis dependently compiles A Questionnaire for College students' Motive of Volunteerism,and the coefficient of the internal consistency is 0.905.Generally,the inventory has seven dimensions: protection,value,career,social,understanding,enhancing and extrinsic motive.Respondents are selected randomly in eight universities in Shijiazhuang,Hebei Province.Totally,479 questionnaires are issued.SPSS20.0 is used to carry out data statistics in three aspects,they are as follows.1.General situation about the participation of the college student volunteers;2.General situation about the college student volunteers' motivation;3.The divergence analysis of the college student volunteers' motives.Then,19 typical college student volunteers are interviewed,and their materials have been tackled.According to the analysis of data,it is shown nine features of the motive of college student volunteers.First,understanding is the most important one;Second,the motive of the college student volunteers towards selfless altruism.Third,sympathy is the important mental factor for college students to form their motives;Fourth,responsibility is an important power for the college students to maintain their motivations;Fifth,success and satisfaction are the primary causes for the change of motives;Sixth,sex,political status and duty have little relation with the motives of college student volunteers;Seventh,the college students who are in the different grade have different motives in Values and Extrinsic motives.Eighth,whether collegestudents and their families received others' free assistance is the most remarkable factor;Ninth,the volunteering experience of college students and their families has nothing to do with the motives of the college student volunteers.There are eight ways to stimulate the college students' motivation: first,consider the intention of college student volunteers' when you organize the volunteer action;second,cultivate the unselfish altruism spirits;third,cultivate sympathy and responsibility of the college students;fourth,make the college students feel successful and satisfied;fifth,improve the party members and make them the exemplary volunteers;sixth,build the reward system carefully;seventh,lead the undergraduates to form mutually beneficial motive;eighth,build active school moral atmosphere of mutual support.
