| As the beginning of a class, lead-in occupies only 3-5 minutes, but it plays a vital role in the teaching activities. With the New Curriculum Reform’ improvement, lead-in becomes more and more important. And the current situation of lead-in in Senior High school and the psychological significance of lead-in, present teachers new requirements for carrying out lead-in. As texts in Senior High English textbooks are long, and there are lots of vocabularies and classroom tasks, some teachers gradually shorten the time of lead-in and even ignore it sometimes. Therefore, the study of lead-in in Senior High school English class is urgently to be discussed.Firstly, the term of lead-in is defined, and the author summarizes its main types and the major findings in this field, then discusses the relevant theoretical framework. After analysis the current situation of the high school English teaching, the study discusses from the following aspects: the main methods of lead-in in English class in Senior High;the problems of carrying out lead-in in classes; the strategies to solving the problems of lead-in. The present author mainly adopts three methods, they are questionnaire,classroom observation and interview. To know the situation of carrying out in classes, the questionnaire surveyed on both the teachers and students. Classroom observation aims at knowing the ways and the situation that teachers carry out in classes. And the interview is to know teacher’s design ideas and problems of lead-in. Through the analysis of the study,the researcher found that the way of lead-in used by teachers is more single, which mainly is topic lead-in, and teachers seldom carry out varied forms of lead-in; most of teachers think that lead-in can attract students’ attention, arouse students’ interest, enlarge students’ horizon, and establish connection between old and new knowledge; lots of teachers think it is necessary to carry out lead-in in English classes in Senior High school,and they can hold the time of lead-in reasonably. But there still are teachers who treat lead-in in a wrong way, they think lead-in could waste class time, and could not get predicted teaching efficiency.To solve the above problems, this present study puts forward some suggestions.It is hoped to help teachers understand the importance of lead-in, and then carry out lead-in effectively in future teaching, finally improve the teaching efficiency. |
