With the rapid development of teaching chinese as a second language around the world, more and more people are learning Chinese, Chinese is becoming a popular language in the world. Among them, under the propulsion of the Confucius institute and Confucius classrooms, number of overseas learners in primary and middle school shows a great rise. Therefore, distinguishing the teaching situation according to different countries and learners with different language background has become more and more important. The author went to Bendigo South East College of Australia as a volunteer Chinese teacher in 2015 and learned a lot about the different methods of overseas Chinese teaching. The author found that the part of Chinese culture is in a special place. Language and culture are closely interrelated since language is the carrier of culture and culture affects and restricts language communication. If the culture teaching can not get the attention they deserve, language teaching will be affected as well.Chapter one focus on the origin and approach of the paper which based on the classroom observation, research and contrast analysis, aiming to study the mode of Chinese language teaching and culture teaching of Victoria, especially of Bendigo South East College.Chapter two introduce the basic information and situation of Chinese class and culture teaching and also analyze three reasons that why Chinese course has developed rapidly in Bendigo South East College. This chapter also study the features of culture teaching and severe problems now according to Chinese teacher faculties and resources as well as textbook complication.Chapter three put forward this two teaching strategies “In the Class and After Class”. In the Class includes teaching through games, songs and movies and perform teaching. After Class includes assigning homework and experiencing activities. Both two are stated by the teaching context, teaching methods and principles.Chapter four enlightenments that the teaching faculties and resources should be more professional, the selection and compilation of textbook should be reasonable and the Chinese curriculum setting should be flexible and diversified.In this paper, the author take Bendigo South East College as an example and study the mode of Chinese language teaching and culture teaching of Victoria. The advices to the culture teaching in an out the class are also provided in this paper. Hope they will help make contributions to the overseas Chinese teaching and culture teaching.
