The Investigation Of Chinese Words Teaching Conditions In Victoria Australia

Chinese teaching belongs to language teaching which has been developing in Australia for a long time.Now it has developed from university to middle schools and primary schools. The number of people who study Chinese is more and more.Studying Chinese is becoming a trend in Australia now.Vocabulary which is one of the three basic elements of the language, its statues and importance is self‐evident. The pronunciation and the grammar must be connected with the specific words, then it can be the whole language.For all of these, I am lucky to be chosen as a Chinese assistant worked in Horsham College in Australia form February2013to November2013. I was seriously finished my job then I collected many fresh and precious resources. I compiled two questionnaires which are aim to research the Chinese vocabulary teaching information in Victoria Australia.I designed the questionnaires both for the teachers and students. The questionnaires can investigate all aspects of information. According to the survey results I found some problems:1、the Chinese learning goal of the students are aimless.2、the outline of VELS is not clear,there are no same teaching materials in Australia schools.3、the content of teaching is random, no exams after Chinese classes.4、Chiese teaching methods are traditional, Chinese teachers’ class management are not very good.To solve all the problems, I come up with some suggestions based on my class observation and practical teaching.1、developing and refining the outline of VELS, reinforce the communication among all the Chinese teachers in Victoria.2、compile more suitable teaching materials for Australia middle school and primary school students.3、increasing Chinese vocabulary review classes, teaching Chinese step after step.4、applying more teaching methods, using the most welcomed methods among students to teach Chinese vocabulary.5、improving the ability of class management. This paper is helpful for Chinese vocabulary classes developing well in Victoria Australia. It is helpful for Chinese vocabulary teaching in middle schools and primary schools.It is helpful for Chinese teaching developing in overseas.
