| The relationship between population and economic growth is a significant research subject of human society. China has implemented the family planning policy since the 1970s, and the rapid growth of population has been effectively controlled, so the focus of the researches on the population problem has gradually turned from the number of population to the influence of the population structure on the economic society. And the population structure mainly consists of population age structure, gender structure, urban and rural structure, industrial structure and educational and cultural structure.This thesis adopts a research method which is a combination of normative research, theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Firstly, by referring to the related documents both at home and abroad and comprehensively applying the inductive, deductive and reasoning methods, this thesis systematically combs the theories on population and population economics, and analyzes the current situation, trend of change and features of the population structure of Hohhot city. Secondly, with the population structure change and the economic growth of Hohhot city as the object of study, the per capita GDP of Hohhot city as the dependent variable, the factors in population structure, such as age, gender, urban and rural areas, industry, education and culture as the independent variables, this thesis carries out a stepwise regression analysis by using the SPSS software, and a conclusion is reached which shows that population structure factors, including the total urban population, the total population in the primary industry, the number of middle school students per 10,000 persons and the total population in the service industry have a remarkable influence on GDP. Finally, according to these research conclusions, several suggestions on the direction of the population structure adjustment of Hohhot city are proposed.The research of this thesis further shows the laws and characteristics of the Hohhot population change, and provides a multi-dimensional and comprehensive analysis of the regional economic development resulted from the structure changes in age, gender, urban and rural areas, industry, education and culture, and so on. It helps to fully disclose the population problem in the current economic growth in Hohhot city, thus guiding the population structure change in a direction that promotes the economic growth. Meanwhile, it also benefits the formulation and planning of various population policies and economic strategies of Hohhot city. |
