An Investigation Of Pupils' Interest In English Learning And Their Training Strategies

Learning interest is an important driving force for primary school students.It has a great influence on improving students' learning motivation and efficiency.English is a major subject in primary schools in China.The improvement of primary students' interest in English learning is crucial to their English proficiency and future development.In the information age,the development of students' interest is influenced by many factors.How to improve and maintain the students' interest in English learning is the core of the English teachers' work.Under the guidance of relevant learning theories and interest theories,this study carries out the investigation and training strategies of primary school students? English learning interest.This paper mainly focuses on three aspects: 1)the present situation of primary school students? interest in English learning;2)training strategies;3)the impact of learning interest on academic performance.This study randomly selects 342 students from Grade 3 to Grade 6 at NO.2 Primary School Affiliated to Huaiyin Normal University in the questionnaire survey and analyzes the status of the pupils? English learning interest.Through the statistical analysis and in combination with interviews with some of the students,this thesis studies the factors affecting the students? interest in learning English mainly from the four aspects,that is,the individuals,teachers,schools and families.Based on the theoretical study,teaching practice and teaching suggestions of experts and colleagues,the thesis puts forward the corresponding teaching and improvement measures.The measures for the learner's part include: 1)to know the importance of learning English;2)to develop good learning habits.Improvement measures for the English teacher's part include: 1)to cultivate a harmonious relationship between teachers and students;2)to optimize the classroom teaching.The strategies for the school?s part include: 1)to create an English learning environment;2)to carry out extra-curricular activities;3)to establish encouraging evaluation system.The improvement measures for the family are mainly to guide the parents to carry out scientific family education and strengthen the family-school contact.In the end this thesis carried out an experimental study on the 109 students in two classes of the third grade.The correlational analysis of the learning interest and performance is made to verify the validity of the measures to stimulate students? interest in learning English.The result shows the significant effect of these measures on developing pupils' English learning interest.At the same time,the results of the experiment are compared to demonstrate the influence of the students' interest in English learning on the students' English learning achievement.The result demonstrates that the improvement of students' interest in English has a certain positive effect on the grade three students' academic performance.
