The aging problem of China has large scale and is becoming serious rapidly. At the end of 2014, there are 137 million people older than 65, which is 10.1% of China's population. As elder population increasing in China, aging problem becoming serious, and the elder is a vulnerable group, the public and government should focus on the pension and provide policy deal with regarding issues.With the development of economy and society in China, the condition that traditional family support to elder has changed, the resources available to elder have changed, and the social support situations also are changing. By researching the new trends and conditions, analyzing elderly dependency, and understanding the needs of elder, we can provide suggestions and directions to the social to give better support to elderly people and improve the pension system.From the perspective of the elder, this essay analyzes the elder support issue from three aspects:economic, care and emotion. The objective is exploring gender differences in the level of dependency among the elder population, as well as the factors that affect elder people in economic, care and emotion aspects, the similarities and differences of those elements.Based on the data of 2010 China Urban and Rural Old Population Condition survey conducted by China Aging Research Center, this essay uses SPSS statistical software for analyzing 10% of the original questionnaire data as sample.The study found that elder mostly rely on economic, and different elder groups have different levels of dependency. The economic factors affecting the elderly populations are savings and self-rated health condition, the care factors are age and self-rated health condition, and the emotional factors are different in each elder group.Based on the gender difference of elderly population and results of the analysis, the essay proposed the following policy recommendations to discuss. Focus on the elder economy dependency; improve the social security system, and accurate allocation of social welfare. Focus on elderly health and improve the medical insurance system. Establish wide community support, rich community activities to increase participation, and attention to elderly mental health. Focus on building education system and distributing education resources. Analyze the level and structure of elder dependency by studying the trends and changing situations, understanding the needs of elderly population and contributing to the precise delivery of social welfare resources of the elder to provide better support and service.
