In 2003,with the promulgation and the implementation of the new "Teaching Program for National College Physical Education Course",China is gradually setting off a wave of reform for physical education course teaching of regular higher educational institutes.Especially in recent years,rapid economic development,social progress and people's concept of education have undergone tremendous changes.As a result,the traditional educational philosophy and teaching methods are not able to meet the needs of students' development in the new era.Therefore,the pace of education reform accelerates.At this background,the “Course Standard of Physical Education and Health” with the guiding concept of “health first” is put forward and put into effect."Three independent teaching” in higher education is also launched based on the "Teaching Program for National College Physical Education Course".Volleyball as one of the important contents of the “three independent teaching” of physical education and health course in colleges and universities has been valued for long time by the nation and colleges.However,seen from the popularity and implementation of volleyball course in colleges and universities,the form of implementation and students' participation are not good.The reason is that volleyball has such characteristics as high degree of skill,complexity and collectivity,and students' quality and lack of interest in the course also to a large extent affect the development of volleyball sports in colleges and universities.Hierarchical teaching method respects students' individual differences,where students are centered and the teacher plays a guiding role to carry out the teaching work,to fully mobilize the students' enthusiasm for learning volleyball.Therefore,the author of this paper mainly makes an experimental study on the application of hierarchical teaching method in the elective course of volleyball in higher institutes.In this paper,the author adopts literature data method,questionnaire investigation method,teaching experiment method,interview method,mathematical statistics method,logic analysis method and other research methods by selecting 20 students majoring in Finance and 20 students of grade 2014 majoring in Tourism of the Jiangsu University of Technology as the research objects.An experimental class and a control class are set to conduct hierarchical teaching experiment and a profound research is carried out on the theoretical basis,operation process,teaching principles,teaching comments and other aspects of hierarchical teaching,and the author discusses the influence of hierarchical teaching on students' physical index,physical condition,the level of 4 volleyball skills of students and the participation of students in volleyball sports(such as students' self-confidence,the awareness of cooperation and communication and study motivation).The main conclusions of this study are that:(1)the competitiveness of volleyball has high requirement on students' basic quality,learning enthusiasm and competition exchange,which decides that hierarchical teaching method is applicable to college volleyball elective;(2)hierarchical teaching method respects the difference of each teaching object and it requires the teaching object to try to tap their own merits and to overcome their shortcomings during teaching experiment to effectively improve students' volleyball skill and practical competence;(3)it is easy for teachers by hierarchical teaching method to give students guidance based on the characteristics of students so that every student can master volleyball action and improve learning motivation and enhance self-confidence;(4)as students are divided based on their levels by layer teaching method,teachers give theoretical guidance based on students level and students can learn theoretical knowledge quickly on the base of their own level,which can help to improve teaching enthusiasm and teaching quality of teachers;(5)hierarchical teaching method is helpful for teachers to apply macro teaching plan to carry out teaching activities,effectively control the implementation of teaching activities and improve the efficiency of volleyball teaching;(6)hierarchical teaching method respects the difference of each student during all teaching process and before teaching starting it has make different learning objectives,different learning molds and different teaching guidance,which makes the teaching experiment more scientific and reasonable.In addition,in order to better apply the hierarchical teaching method in college volleyball selective course,combing the analysis and results of the experimental study,the author proposes a series of suggestions as that physical education teachers should try to creatively change the idea of volleyball teaching and innovate teaching methods;respect students difference,exploit students' characteristics and guide them in an adequate ratio;be objective to see the level of students and reasonably apply the method of crossover teaching;appreciate students' talents beyond physical quality and excavate backbone students at different levels.
