Volitional quality is one of the most important psychological qualities in athletic training and sports competition for athletes. For athletes, the larger the competition scale is and the higher the competition level is, the higher the demand of volitional quality is accordingly. In furious competition, what are needed is not only a good physical qualiyt,but also to overome competition anxiety. Supposing that athletes are neck and neck with each other, only athletes adjust their emotion and play by their high level technique and strong will can they achieve final victory.Exercise psychologists have been trying to study the relations between competition anxiety and results in recent years. This paper merely selected 216 athletes who belongs to 12 teams and participated in the 2014 cheerleading national championship due to there are few studies about university cheerleading sports currently. This paper aims to explore athlete's volitional quality and anxiety status in contest by means of document analysis method, survey method and data statistic method. In addition,this paper also examined their relations and therefore drew the following conclutions:Male athletes perform higher decisiveness and confidence than female athletes; and there is significant difference in confidence status(p<.01) between male and female cheerleading athletes.A prominent dfference exists in consciousness dimension among cheerleading athletes which are from diverse education background and different participation level; and there is also an obvious difference in consciousness dimension for the athletes whose participation times are different and their exists positive correlation.Different fixed number of years of training is intensively reflected in the dimension of consciousness(p<.01) and toughness(p<.05); and there is significant difference in decisiveness dimension for athletes whose competition items are different.Remarkable distinction exists in independence dimension (p<.05) for athletes whose roles are different;and for athletes whose roles are different, there is a big difference in confidence status dimension (p<.05).There is no prominent difference for the cheerleading athletes whose majors are different in these demensions which are Volitional quality and anxiety status; and for the cheerleading athletes whose fixed number of training years and and training items are different, no notable difference is found in dimensions like competition anxiety status.There is a notable feature between volitional quality and competition anxiety status for college cheerleading athletes; and there is a significant negative correlation between cognitive anxiety and physical anxiety and dimensions as volitional quality; additionally,a significant positive corelation can be witnessed between confidence status and volitional quality.
