Student-based education is the current education reform and development of a mainstream model theory and practice.The ideal of student-based education is to find out an educational way to make teachers teach less,but students learn more.Student-based education is that makes students be true owners and the teachers are only the guidance and leaders of students' development.The process of cooperative learning is the process that students discuss and solve problems together,it can fully embody students' subjectivity,comprehensiveness and activity.At the same time,students can competitive with each other and reach success finally.Cooperative learning is very important in the student-based education that is no cooperative learning,no student-based education.One symbol of student-based education is if using the cooperative learning and how to treat the cooperative learning,so the key to student-based education is to be able to use effectively cooperative learning.In the early 1990 s,the researchers in china started to research on the theory of cooperative learning.In the recent years there are many researchers on cooperative learning,but most researchers were applied in colleges,senior schools and junior schools.In this paper,the author will put the cooperative learning into good use in the primary school.In this paper,with the student-based education,cooperative learning is that 4 to 6 students communicate in the group,and students can also co-prime between groups,so that students can get enough discussions,at last the group can show in the platform in the classroom which can give every student a chance to present themselves.The subject of this research are one hundred and sever students from two classes in Grade four in Sha He Yi Xiao of Jiu Yuan,Bao Tou.The author can experiment on teaching for about 16 weeks.One class is an experimental group,the other is the control group.The experimental group uses the cooperative learning method,and the control group uses the traditional teaching method.In this paper,the author mainly uses the theory analysis with teaching experiment to make the research,and in the meantime,the data has been collected by questionnaires,surrey,interview and two tests.The data was collected and processed with SPSS based on an experiment.This research tries to discuss two question;a)Can students' interests of English leaning be improved by the way of cooperative learning?b)What effects does cooperative learning have for Grade Four students in primary school on English learning under the student-based education?The conclusion of this research is: cooperative learning can greatly improve students' achievements;students are able to take an active part in the classroom teaching and study English independently.Their study achievement,interest,attitude and communicative ability to some extent can be improved.The result indicates that cooperative learning plays a role that can not be ignored in primary school.It can advance students' motivation,resume students' self-confidence and improve students' achievement.At last,the limitation of the research and implications are presented: primary school students should be instructed to the ways of the cooperative learning,and the teachers should pay more attention to cultivate the efficiency ways of cooperative learning.
