A Study On The Relationship Between Graduate Students And Mentors In The New Media Era

With the development of graduate education and the expansion of the scale of graduate enrollment,the relationship between graduate students and their mentors has received more attention.The construction of the relationship between graduate students and mentors is essentially based on the interpersonal communication,belonging to the category of interpersonal relationships.In recent years,the emergence and development of new media has brought a certain impact on the interpersonal relationships,and the relationship between graduate and mentor is also a kind of interpersonal relationship in the final analysis,it will also be affected by new media,and constructed in the new-media environment.In order to understand the influence of the new media on the relationship between the postgraduates and the supervisors,and improve the quality of postgraduate education.This dissertation adopts a mixed research method and adopts self-compiled questionnaires to investigate the postgraduates of four universities in Shanghai.A total of 267 valid questionnaires were collected and the ways and contents of the interaction between the postgraduates and supervisors in the new media environment were described,and explore the relationship between graduate students and supervisors in the new media environment through interviews with postgraduates and supervisors.With the survey results and the interviews of the graduates and supervisors,the authors draw the conclusions as follows:the use of new media can improve the efficiency of instructor guidance;Expression can be used to narrow the distance between teachers and students.Finally,some suggestions are put forward based on the comprehensive analysis of the problem.From the instructor's perspective,the graduate mentors need to change the guiding concept,understand the needs of the students,in addition to the guidance of students in the academic,the psychological,spiritual and other aspects of concern also need to pay sufficient attention;from students' point of view,graduate students need to improve the initiative,and work together with teachers to establish a good teacher-student relationship.
