Study On The Northeast Thailand Traditional Sports At The Background Of "The Belt And Road"

This paper is the result of a study of traditional sports in the northeast of Thailand at the background of "the Belt and Road" policy. The basis for this research includes field survey, document research, expert interviews and logical analysis. Firstly, this paper starts with the natural geographical environment, the humanities environment and other basic factors in the northeast region of Thailand in which the traditional sports are rooted.It is the region’s unique geographical and cultural environment that profoundly influenced traditional sports culture.Secondly, this paper describes the historical origin, classification, characteristics,value, present situation and the feasibility of the sports to become compatible with"the Belt and Road" policy.Consequently, it identifies related problems, which are:lack of attention from the government, deficiency in promotion, less events held,the impact of foreign sports, insufficient theory research and lack of guidance to enable integration with China’s "the Belt and Road" policy.According to these existing problems, this paper puts forward that China and Thailand should initiate mutual communication and security related to traditional sports at the background of "the Belt and Road" policy; maintain the leadership in the Sino-Thai traditional sports; establish the Sino-Thai Traditional Sports Exchange Foundation; increase the support for the Sino-Thai traditional folk sports organizations and associations;strengthen the publicity of traditional sports; held Sino-Thai traditional sports events to develop its traditional culture industry; build the sports culture resources and protect the database of Chinese and Thai traditional sports together; strengthen the training of traditional sports talents and build a traditional sports scientific research base together.
