Objective To investigate the effects of different workloads and pedaling rates on lower extremity neuromuscular coordination mode of nontrained cyclists, including two different workload(60W?100W)and four different pedaling rates(preferred pedaling rate?40rpm?60rpm?90rpm).The ten main muscle's neuromuscular coordination mode under these conditions were observed.Method The subjects of this study were 27 nontrained university students from Shanghai University of Sport. The main muscle includes Gluteus maximus(GMax)?Rectus femoris(RF)?Vatsus medialis(VM)?Vatsus lateralis(VL)?Biceps femoris(BF,long head)?Semitendinosus(ST)?Tibialis anterior(TA)?Gastrocnemius lateralis(GL)?Soleus(SOL).The main indicators include activate level(RMS)?Burst onset?Burst offset?Burst duration of muscle.Results(1)The workloads and pedaling have an significant interaction effect on the activate level of GMax?RF?SOL(P<0.05).These muscle have higher activate level under high workloads and low pedaling rate.(2)VM?VL?BF?ST seems more activated under high workloads without the consideration of pedaling rate(P<0.05).(3)The activate level of GL?TA were higher with higher workloads and higher pedaling rate(P<0.05).(4)The burst onset of VM?VL?BF showed significant earlier under high pedaling rate(P<0.05).(5)The burst offset of SOL?GL?BF showed later with high pedaling rate(P<0.05).(6)The burst duration of SOL?GL were longer under high pedaling rate(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)The modification of workloads has significant influence on the neuromuscular coordination mode of lower extremity, especially the onset?offset and activcity level of thebi-muscle of non-trainedpeople show a significant synergism, especially under high workloads.(2)The variation of pedaling rate also has a significant effect on the neuromuscular coordination mode of lower extremity, but this effect seems to be based on the variation of the workloads.
