A Study On Influential Factors Of Students' Evaluation Of Teaching In Local Colleges

Teaching is the main function of local colleges and universities,of which the typical practice strengthen monitoring of teaching quality is to evaluate teaching by students.But the current system of student's evalution on teaching is not perfect,the results of teaching evaluation have been questioned by some teachers and management personnel,which will reduce the effectiveness of the practice.With literature analysis,quantitative research on selective university's yearly data of students' teaching evaluation and interviews with its staff,the thesis has analyzed potentially impact on students' evaluation of teaching from the characteristics of students,teachers,courses and the other factors.Although there are certain limitations of the data and samples,and still can not be fully explained all the influence factors on student evaluation of teaching,but further improvement the relative research,selection of research method and object is different from the existing research in this study.It concluds that:(1)students' evaluation of teaching in local undergraduate college is affected by many factors,such as teachers,curriculum,teacing time and place,including students' grade,age and title of teachers,the size of classroom,the type and characteristic of course,department of teachers and students,the type of classroom,tearching in or not in other department in turn have a significant impact on the teaching evaluation results.(2)Teaching factors can explain the major components of students' evaluation of teaching.In order to further improve effectiveness and function of the student' evaluation of teaching,the local universities should rationally use of its results,strengthen learning guide and services for student,manage teacher and course well and provide better training services for teachers,establish multivariate evaluation system of teaching,make the practice of the students' evaluation of teaching more standardized.
