We selected 227 preschool teachers from rural areas and interview with some of them.The study tries to acknowledge current situation of preschool teachers’ professional knowledge and their dilemmas so as to give suggestions of improving their professional development.We can find it from the data analysis that rural preschool teacher’s professional knowledge level has the following characteristics:1.The whole level is high,and the score of each factor is higher than median.The level of childcare and educational knowledge got the highest score,and the level of general knowledge got the lowest scores.2.In the level of childcare and educational knowledge and level of general knowledge,there was significant difference with preschool educational background.3.In the level of childcare and educational knowledge,there was significant difference with education between rural preschool teachers.4.In the level of childcare and educational knowledge and level of general knowledge,there was significant difference with teacher’s qualification certificate,and the former score is higher than the latter.We can find it that there’s still some problems:1.Rural preschool teachers have an imbalanced command of parts of professional knowledge 2.They need to broaden their knowledge.In childcare and educational knowledge fields,rural preschool teachers are short of respect to children private and thorough study on preschool policies;and they have an imbalanced command of speculative knowledge and practical knowledge.In childcare and educational knowledge field,rural preschool teachers should adjust their view of children,and they need to deepen the acknowledge of preschool educational goals and improve the level of safe educational knowledge.In general knowledge field,they are lack of technical knowledge and overall acknowledge of science and social knowledge.Through interviewing with rural preschool teachers,it can be concluded that insufficient investment in rural preschool education,lack of chance to training,heavy work in kindergarten and full of utility and unawareness of general knowledge are the factors which deeply affect rural preschool teacher’s professional level.Through above analysis,the study gives some advice to improve professional knowledge level of rural preschool teachers from three aspects:1.On a macro level,the government should take some solutions to improve external environment.2.On a mes-level view,the manager of rural kindergarten should build up the platform to promote the level of rural preschool teachers’ professional knowledge.3.And In micro perspective,rural preschool teachers should build up the conception of lifelong learning.
