"The Senior School Physics Curriculum Standard" explicitly points out that more attentions should be paid to develop intelligence and scientific thinking of students in the practical teaching process.Based on an extensive review of literatures,it has been found that there are a lot of researches dealing with the abstract thinking on the theoretic level,and rare research has been conducted about the combination of teaching and practice.In view of this,guided with the advanced teaching and learning theory combined with the author's teaching practice,this paper attempts to develop the abstract thinking of senior school students in physics teaching by action research,with the purpose of putting forward with some suggestions on developing students' abstract thinking.This paper adopts the methods of reviewing literature,questionnaire survey and action research.First,questionnaires were designed to investigate students' thinking and the data were collected,analyzed and evaluated objectively concerning with students' obstacles in thinking.Then,a couple of classical types of physics class were selected on which teaching plans were designed and practical researches were carried out.After that,teaching effects were evaluated and general teaching suggestions were summarized.Hopefully,it will have a positive impact on the author's teaching in the future and peer colleagues'.This paper consists of six parts.Part I mainly discusses the importance of developing the abstract thinking of senior school students in physics teaching.Meanwhile,this part introduces the present situation of the related research and then indicates the necessity of this study.Part II presents a scientific definition of all the terms involved in this paper and then describes the research objective,contents and methods.Part III concerns with the investigation of abstract thinking ability of students so as to obtain the authentic data and make an analysis.Part IV mainly deals with the research procedure.Based on the educational theory and learning theory as well as the author's teaching practice,this paper conducts the research on abstract thinking in the physics classroom of definitions,principles,experiments and exercises,respectively.After many practices,this paper formulates the teaching plan of developing students' abstract thinking and further puts forward with some suggestions on developing students thinking.Part V devotes to the evaluation and feedback.In the last part,the author summarizes the research and makes a reflection on it.The creativity of this paper is that the author points out the corresponding teaching strategies and teaching plans on the classroom of definitions,principles,experiments and exercises,respectively,and makes an evaluation of these combining with her teaching practice.It can develop and enhance students' abstract thinking in physics.
