Cultural Capital And Chinese Adolescent Development

The great adolescent development has led to benign social operation.And people from different class have focus on it.It is said that the great adolescent development is helpful in family's harmony and development.More importantly,it is benefit for social benign operation and development.In the meanwhile,family and school is the main place for young people to grow up,and they play an important role in the adolescent development.And the practice and transmission of cultural capital are closely related to family and school.The concept of cultural capital is a good summary of the shaping role of families and schools for adolescent.Scholars believe that cultural capital is an important intermediate mechanism for families and schools to influence adolescent development.It is significant and necessary to study the cultural capital and the adolescent development.The main concern of this study is the impact of cultural capital on the adolescent development.And adolescent development include the cognitive ability of adolescents and the health status of adolescents.We should examine the role of different forms of cultural capital in the adolescent development.Secondly,we are glad to analysis the gap between gender,urban and rural,class in order to finding the answer that whether cultural reproduction model or other can fit the fact.This research uses the data from Chinese Education Panel Survey 2014,and the junior high school students' cognitive ability and learning their health status is the dependent variable;according to Bourdieu's idea,cultural capital can be divided into specific cultural capital,objective cultural capital and so on.We will use the cultural capital as the core variables of this study.In this study,multi-level regression model and interactive analysis will be used to explore the role of cultural capital in the adolescent development.The results show that cultural capital has a significant positive effect on the adolescent development.And students who live in city and students whose parents are elite can use the cultural capital to enhance the advantage in learning and health,when we try to analysis the gap between urban and rural.Through this research,on the one hand,there is a clear definition and classification of cultural capital operation,detailed study of cultural capital and adolescent development;on the other hand,verifying the applicability of the cultural reproduction model in China.And cultural capital plays an active role in the maintenance and reconstruction of the class through the transfer of cultural capital.Using the cultural capital,upper class can effectively consolidate their class status.Students from upper class can be benefit from the advantage of cultural capital.
