Survey And Study On Mental Health Status Of Vocational College Students Based On Five Vocational Colleges In West China

At present,China's higher vocational education has been an unprecedented development.Vocational college students are a special group of higher education.In general,they are between 17 and 23 years old and are in adolescence without mature.They have the complex source,the short school system and lower level of education.Compared with ordinary undergraduates,they have more complex psychological pressure.In addition,social recognition of higher vocational education is not high.They face a huge psychological pressure in employment and career,which result in happening frequently the suicide,injury and other vicious incidents of high vocational students.Therefore,there are many studies on the psychological health education of higher vocational students in the whole society.Compared with the economically developed areas in the south of China,mental health education of higher vocational students started late and lacked experiences in the west of China.There was not a perfect system to do mental health education of higher vocational students.The quantitative research of mental health education of higher vocational students in the west of China is relatively less.Therefore,based on questionnaires,interviewing and other research methods,the author chose 850 vocational students in the west of five vocational colleges as the research objects,through SCL-90 symptom self-rating scale and self-made scale,examines the effects of the gender of college students,the only child or not,parental career,loving or not,participating in community or not and other factors on the mental health of vocational college students.The results are as follows:(1)Compared with the mean of the whole Chine,the scores of the mental health level of students in the 5 higher vocational colleges in the west are higher than those in whole Chine,which indicated that the mental health status of the 5 higher vocational colleges in the west was poor and the 10 factors in SCL-90 symptom self-rating scale and self-made scale were very significant differences.(2)For high vocational students in the 5 higher vocational colleges in the west China,the level of mental health of male vocational students is slightly better than that of female vocational students,and there is significant difference between compulsion,depression,anxiety and terror.Health level of non-only child is better than the only child,especially in interpersonal relationships,anxiety and terror that the only child scores higher than non-only child.(3)The mental health status of the outgoing vocational college students is better than that of introverted,especially in interpersonal sensitivity and depression factors.The difference in the mental health status of the vocational college students whose parents are farmers or not is not significant.(4)The vocational college students who are participating in the community,liking the professional,continuing to study,falling in love and having other positive attitude have better mental health status than those vocational college students who are not.(5)School location also influence the mental health of vocational college students,such as located in the city of vocational college students is better than in the county.Family economic situation,mental health status and experience of the students in the cities are higher than in the county level.Based on the above conclusions,the vocational colleges in the western region can improve the mental health of the students through the following strategies: first,straighten out people's thinking and understand the importance of mental health education;second,increase the government's investment in mental health education of vocational students(formulate capital and related documents);third,optimize the campus environments,such as athletic facility,playgrounds,classrooms,cafeteria and other places of the environment;fourth,employ professional level of mental health education teachers and carry out a variety of courses;last,establish the rich local characteristics of the school's mental health education website,as much as possible to provide the opportunity for students to understand the psychological knowledge.
