With the health concept and education concept renewed, mental health education has become one of the most important contents of the contemporary schooling. In order to probe into how the mental health education are carried out in vocational and technical colleges, the thesis expounds the mental health standard, the psychological characteristics, the contents and principles of the mental education for vocational and technical college students. Besides, combined with practice, the thesis analyzes and summarizes a set of mental health education patterns which are easy to perform and relatively suitable for vocational and technical colleges.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part analyses and discuss the mental health standard for vocational and technical colleges on basis of differentiation and analysis on the mental education concept. The second part sets forth the general psychological characteristics of vocational and technical college students and analyzes their specific ones especially from the two angles of their psychological development process and psychological characteristic of personality. The third part elaborates the main contents of the mental education in vocational and technical colleges in ten respects and put forward five basic principles to be followed. The fourth part makes a thorough inquiry and proposes a set of practical mental health education patterns for vocational and technical colleges. That is, the four integrations of education with publicity, of assistance with self-assistance, of individual with collective, of college with society and family are formed by opening a series of students' mental health file and improving it, by setting up a three -level network of students' mental health education center, mental guidance station, students' union's mental health section through the two channels of class teaching and extracurricular guidance. At the meantime, the author uses the questionnaires on the mental health conditions of students in three vocational and technical colleges to analyze and prove that the patterns are effective.
