Vocational education as an important part of higher education, assumes the responsibility of training high-skilled and high-quality compound talents for our country. How to train students and to promote the development of economy and society is one of the most important issues that higher vocational education facing and is also the center work. Most students’ ages range from 18 to 23, and still in their adolescence. Due to the immature physical and mental development, they lack of self-control ability, learning objective, and learning motivation. And if vocational colleges lack of reasonable guidance and education, students will have psychological and behavioral problems. Compared with undergraduates, students in higher vocational schools are facing more complicated psychological pressures because of their more complex structures, shorter school years and lower education levels. Vocational education has not being recognized by the society, which result in students’ enormous psychological pressure on employments and careers. Therefore, a detail planned and purposeful vocational college mental health education becomes very important.There are four parts in this study:The first part:introduction. First, the background and significance of the topic of this study were described. Second, related concepts, standards and the relevant theoretical basis of mental health were defined. Third, both domestic and foreign research literature were combed in details.The second part: the survey and analysis of students’ mental health in higher vocational schools in Qinhuangdao. This study illustrates the research methods, research tools, carried out a detailed statistical of the data, and comparatively analysis the variables.The third part: survey showed the main psychological problems that students in higher vocational schools have are severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal tension, and weak emotion management capacity. The current situation of mental health education of Qinhuangdao Vocational Colleges were carried out, hoping to promote students’ mental health through operational level that is improving the mental health education of higher vocational colleges in Qinhuangdao.The forth part: to improve vocational students’ mental health, the way of mental health education in Qinhuangdao higher vocational colleges should be broaden. Here the countermeasures are proposed; those are improving mental health education systems, implementing the mental health education and enrich campus culture, creating a good environment. Through improving the mental health education of higher vocational colleges in Qinhuangdao, it hoped to promote some advice to higher vocational colleges in other area.
