English homework is an important part of English learning.It is indispensable to classroom teaching.It has greatly affected teaching quality and students' comprehensive ability to use language.In recent years,research on homework has got some attention under the educational reform emphasizing the values of emotional attitudes.However,most researches have focused on the experience summarization of English homework,and especially lack systematic and in-depth exploration on that of students from rural areas.In view of this,this paper aims to reveal the main problems of English homework facing rural junior middle school students from Shandong province and then the related conductive suggestions on them are proposed.To achieve this purpose,questionnaires and interviews are used to investigate the current situation of English homework.It is hoped to help the rural teachers and students have a better understanding of English homework and to provide a guidepost to solve those existing problems in English homework.Besides,this study tends to be of certain significance to explore the new optimized design of rural junior middle school English homework both theoretically and practically.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part serves to introduce the main problems of English homework facing students,in which research background,literature review,research purpose and significance,and theoretical basis are also demonstrated;the second part focuses on the research method and process,in which questionnaires,interviews and documentation research are adopted to analyze the current situation of English homework.The third one includes students' attitudes towards English homework,homework quantity,the content and form,correction and feedback,and the completion of homework.In part four,main problems occurring in English homework are concluded,that is,the unilateral understanding,excessive quantity without pertinence,monotony of content and form,lack of creativity and scientific management,singleness in homework correction,inflexiblecorrection symbols and rare recognition of the learning strategies in homework.Based on these problems,we analyzed the reasons accordingly.The last chapter presents the related conductive suggestions on how to tackle those problems in English homework facing rural junior middle school students from Shandong province.It includes updating teachers and students' concept based on the requirements of new curriculum,balancing homework quantity and difficulty,reducing the burden of teachers and students,enriching homework content and form,promoting students' interest in completing homework,improving correcting concept and correcting efficiency.
