English homework plays an important role in the process of students' English learning.English homework can help students' review,consolidate and practice English knowledge and skills that they have learned in classroom instruction.However,the current researches mainly focus on English homework design and evaluation,ignoring the influential factors in students' English homework completion,which leads to plenty of problems.Therefore,it is necessary to deeply investigate current situations of students' English homework completion in junior high schools.The author uses questionnaire and interview to investigate students' English homework completion from three aspects--students,English teachers and parents in three junior high schools on different levels in Xiaoyi County in order to promote and improve current situations of students' English homework completion in junior high schools.The research questions are as follows:1.What are the current situations of English homework completion in junior high schools?2.How do English teachers' homework design and evaluation influence students' English homework completion?3.How do students' individual factors influence their English homework completion?4.What are the current situations of parents' involvement in the process of students' English homework completion?In this thesis,SPSS 17.0 was used to analyze the collected data and the author got the following findings:Current situations of English homework completion are favorable,almost all the studentshold positive attitudes towards English homework,but they also have trouble in completing English homework with high efficiency.English teachers can not take students' interests and different learning levels into serious consideration when they design and evaluate students' English homework.According to relative correlation,there is no significant correlation between English teachers' homework design,evaluation and students' English homework completion.Most students hold positive attitudes towards English homework and they are willing to put all their efforts to complete English homework on time,which reflected students have high English homework endeavor and responsibility.Moreover,students are good at using meta-cognitive strategy and social strategy except cognitive strategy.What is more,by doing correlation analysis,there are positive correlations between students' individual factors and students' English homework completion.Most parents do well in giving instructions and support in students' English homework completion process.In addition,parents with higher educational levels are more willing to participate in their children's English homework completion,which contribute to students' English achievement.The above findings give us the following suggestions: English teachers should design hierarchical English homework and using various forms to evaluate students' English homework,meanwhile,helping students know how to use English homework strategies.As for students,what they really need to do is to take English homework seriously as well as trying to use richer English homework strategies.Parents should give students instructions in students' English homework completion and strengthen school-parents relations.
