History homework is an important way for students to consolidate their knowledge,cultivate their historical thinking and literacy,and improve their abilities as well.Besides,for teachers,the understanding of students' learning status and reflection about improving teaching are on the basis of history homework.Due to the influence of exam-oriented education,teachers ignore the requirements of new curriculum reform and its standards.Therefore,history homework is short of careful design and proper evaluation.The history homework in rural junior high schools is still dominated by traditional exercises and recitation,which does not play its due functions and roles,and cannot promote students' overall development.Through the investigation in three rural middle schools in Taihe County of Anhui Province,the author tries to find out the specific problems,analyzes the causes of these problems and also gives suggestions to the problems.The first chapter defines the concept of history homework in rural junior high schools.It also analyzes the function of history homework,which includes achieving curriculum objectives and cultivating the core literacy of history;consolidating,motivating and developing function;the function of feedback and evaluation.The second chapter is about the investigation and analysis of the current situation of history homework in rural middle schools.Through the questionnaire survey and interviews,this paper sums up some problems existing in history extracurricular work: students' less interest and unclear purposes in learning history;the single form and boring contents of the history extracurricular homework;the history teachers' single evaluation on the extracurricular homework and so on.The reasons for the problems are the limitations of the rural history teachers themselves,the poor comprehensive ability of the rural junior middle school students,and the relatively backward awareness of exam-oriented education and the lagging rural learning conditions.The third chapter is the suggestions for the history homework in rural middle schools.It summarizes the principles of designing and arranging history homework,including the principles of interest,education,foundation,exploration,diversity and adaptation to local conditions.According to the actual situations in rural areas,several kinds of extracurricular assignments suitable for rural junior high schools are designed.The learning guide plans,review and summary of extracurricular assignments,essays,debate-style extracurricular assignments,historical dramas,investigation-style extracurricular assignments,and extracurricular homework using rural living environment are included in them.This paper points out the problems that should be paid attention to in the process of implementing history homework,including teachers' professional improvements,so that students can understand the importance of history homework.Teachers should play a guiding role and arrange homework in a flexible and diverse way,and evaluate homework timely.It is hoped that through the research and suggestions,this paper can play a role in not only stimulating students' interest in learning history,improving students' history grades,cultivating students' various qualities and literacy,but also in promoting the development of history teaching in local rural junior high schools.
