With the advancement of a new round of curriculum reform,both of the quantity and difficulty of the English reading materials in the textbooks of senior high school have increased.As a result,reading teaching has been paid more and more attention than before.However,there still exists a series of problems in English reading teaching so far,such as teacher-centeredness,teaching textbooks as its main content and the examination as its purpose,neglect of the cultivation of students' reading interest and reading habit,and lack of communication and cooperation among students.In view of these practical problems,the study applies jigsaw reading strategy to English reading teaching in senior high school,which is aimed at improving students' interest in English reading learning,cooperative ability and reading level.This study takes Social Interdependence Theory and Constructivist Learning Theory as guidance and discusses the feasibility and effectiveness of the application of jigsaw reading strategy around three research questions.The research questions include:1)What is the role of jigsaw reading strategy in the cooperative ability of senior high school students?2)What influence does jigsaw reading strategy produce towards senior high school students' learning interests on English reading?3)What is the effect of applying jigsaw reading strategy on senior high school students' English reading level?The author takes two parallel classes of senior one in Liaoning Experimental Senior High School Liaobin Branch as the research subjects.Class Five is the Control Class,which adopts the traditional reading teaching strategy.Class Six is the Experimental Class,which adopts jigsaw reading teaching strategy.Through a semester of the experiment,the author gets the basic information about the application of jigsaw reading strategy to English teaching in senior high school with the methods of questionnaire,pre-test,post-test and interview to collect relevant data.The study shows that the application of jigsaw reading strategy relies mainly on the form of cooperative learning group,which is student-centered,and to complete relevant reading tasks through the inter-group and intra-group cooperation of the "home"group and the "expert" group.Through analyzing the relevant data,the author finds out that jigsaw reading strategy can strengthen high school students' cooperative learning ability and improve their English reading level.It illustrates that the application of jigsaw reading strategy to English reading teaching in senior high school is feasible and effective.This study carries out the student-centeredness,which makes students become closer in connection with each other in English class,meanwhile,it improves the efficiency of solving English reading questions.It states the research can help English reading teaching in senior high school and has a promoting effect on the improvement of English teaching quality in senior high school,which is worthy for other teachers to reference in practice.However,due to various limitations,the study also has certain defects,such as the limited sample size,the shorter experimental time,the limited theoretical level and practical ability of the author and so on.This research still has certain deficiency,which needs to be corrected and improved in the future related research.
