| The textbook is the most important curriculum resource for English teaching,but it is not the only one.English Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Educationadvocates teachers to use textbooks flexibly and creatively.Therefore,it is necessary for English teachers to redevelop English textbooks according to the actual situation of teaching.This study takes PEPEnglish textbooks which are revised in 2012 as an example.Questionnaire,interviews and classroom observation are conducted in three junior high schools in Zhengzhou to solve the following questions: 1)What is the current situation of English teachers’ textbooks redevelopment in junior high schools? 2)What are the problems of teachers’ redeveloping English textbooks? 3)What guidance will teachers need in redeveloping English textbooks?This study focuses on analyzing teachers’ attitude towards the Textbooks Redevelopment(TR),the specific implementation of TR,the problems in redeveloping textbooks and guidance teachers will need in redeveloping textbooks.According to the data analysis of the survey results,conclusions can be made as follows: 1)English teachers in junior high schools have a good understanding of the English textbooks redevelopment.However,there are some shortcomings in the specific implementation.2)English teachers in the middle schools also have some difficulties in redeveloping textbooks.For example,many teachers are unfamiliar with English Curriculum Standard(ECS)and English textbooks,most teachers are eager to get guidance from such aspects as the expert instruction of redevelopment,and so on.3)Most teachers are thirst for getting guidance from all aspects,the expert instruction of redevelopment is the most necessary for teachers in junior high schools.The author hopes this thesis can provide some instructions for English teachers’ textbooks redevelopment in junior high schools.And the author also would like to make some suggestions for relevant departments so that they can better carry out teaching activities. |
