| Textbook is an eternal topic in education and teaching. With the development of the society and the updating of the concept of the education, the position and the function of textbook have changed from the object that be worshiped by the teacher to the tool and means that can achieve the course objectives. The traditional idea of teaching textbooks has been replaced by the idea of using textbooks.The redevelopment of the textbooks is not only adjust the content, structure, sequence or methods of the textbooks, but also reconstruct the curriculum on the base of curriculum standards and the actual teaching situation. By the role of curriculum developers, teachers participate the redevelopment of the textbooks, which gives a broader space to the creative teaching. What’s more, the redevelopment of the textbooks can stimulate the learning interest and motivation of the students.Although many researchers have started to pay attention to the redevelopment of the textbooks in previous studies, this study has its own unique innovations which investigate how the teachers redevelop the textbooks. Studying the redevelopment of the English textbooks is very necessary, which not only help the development of the new curriculum reform,but also can provide a good theoretical basis to the English curriculum.This essay focus on principles and implementation strategies of the redevelopment of the textbooks so as to supply some theoretical and practical guidance for teachers.This essay is divided into the following four parts:Part one covers the background, theoretical and practical significance of the research; the current research and the literature review; introduce the concept of textbooks and redevelopment of the textbooks; discuss the ideas and methods of the research.Part two probes into the theoretical basis of redevelopment of the textbooks, including the main basis of the redevelopment, the effective standards, the specific developing areas, the functions and the ways of redevelopment.Part three introduces the investigation and research of the use of the textbooks, focus on the teachers’sense of redevelopment and what problem they may met during their teaching.Part four deals with problems using the textbooks and discuss the suggestions for improvement. |
