Relevant statistics show that,leukemia is one of the highest morbidity in incidences of malignant tumors in our country.Due to its complicated state of illness,expensive fee,long treatment and uncertain cure effect,once the child is diagnosed with leukemia,in addition to bearing anxiety,depression,denial,anger and other negative emotions,their parents also have to face the pressure coming from the disease,the family,the society and the hospital.In recent years,more and more scholars started to focus their attention on the family members of leukemia children.Most of studies are based on caregivers' psychological status and quality of life,but rare ones apply professional social work methods and skills as a intervention to the caregivers taking consideration from the perspective of social work.This study adopts the qualitative orientation of group work as the main research methods,under the guidance of the theory of social support,based on the value of empowerment orientation social work,we formed a social support group whose members are of the same source of pressure called“ hand in hand,growth together ” as the research object.Through a series of group activities,such as actively guiding member interaction,providing relevant knowledge andlinking various social resources,social workers show their effective respond to team members ' needs from all aspects in psychological,medical,family and social;and at the same time,their potentials have got further developed,making them be aware of their ability to change.The result shows that the social support system which was established by using the group social work method can offer psychological support,information support,peer support and medical support etc timely and effectively;so as to effectively enhance their ability to overcome the difficulties,to recover their positive attitudes to life and to rebuild their self-confidence.
