| Childhood leukemia is a major disease that seriously threatens children’s health, and the incidence rate of leukemia among children aged 0-14 years in China is 34.3/1 million.Children with leukemia have an urgent onset and a long treatment cycle, and they face enormous challenges at the physical, psychological, and social levels. However, due to the low resilience or poor functioning of some children, they are more prone to and more difficult to solve emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problems. This not only reduces children’s compliance and is not conducive to actively receiving treatment, but also may lead to family and interpersonal tensions, which is not conducive to children returning to school and social life after treatment. The health of children is a matter of concern to millions of families and the future development of the country. We should not only study how to improve the cure rate of children with leukemia, but also pay attention to how their individual abilities are used to combat this dilemma. We should study how to assist them in improving their personal resilience to cope with difficulties,so as to better return to their original lives. Therefore, exploring how to effectively enhance the resilience of children with leukemia is of great significance for their mental health development and improving their problem-solving ability to meet current and future challenges. In this paper,a questionnaire,semi-structured interview and participant observation were used to collect relevant data from children with leukaemia in R Hospital in Guangzhou.Firstly, this study used the Mental Toughness Scale for Adolescents developed by Yueqin Hu as a measurement tool to investigate the current situation of resilience in 16 children with leukemia aged 7-15 years, and finally reached the conclusion that their overall resilience was low.The author further conducted in-depth interviews with children with leukemia and their main caregivers to try to analyze the reasons for their overall low resilience, and concluded that the main reasons include insufficient cognitive and behavioral abilities, insufficient family support, and insufficient coordination between social support and actual needs.Based on the above cause analysis and needs assessment, the author selected a group work method to design a total of 8 group activities from two dimensions of resilience: personal strength and support. The goal of improving the resilience of children with leukemia was achieved through intervention in five protective factors: goal focus, interpersonal assistance, family support, emotional control, and positive cognition. After the completion of the group, the effectiveness of the group work was analyzed through process evaluation, outcome evaluation and self-evaluation of social workers, and the following results were obtained: the resilience of the children with leukemia who participated in the group was significantly improved, which means that the group work method is an effective way to improve the resilience of children with leukemia. Finally, through the analysis of the actual implementation of the group and the results of the effectiveness evaluation,an attempt was made to construct a practical model of group work for the resilience enhancement of children with leukaemia based on the framework of intervention theory, intervention factors, service mechanism and intervention resource system.,and reflect on both group practice and research design, thereby putting forward relevant suggestions and appeals for improving the resilience of children with leukemia. |
