Man is the carrier of knowledge and technology, the main body of all economic activities, and the most valuable resource. The population tends to gather in the areas that can provide better living conditions and opportunities for development. Therefore, based on China's imbalanced development conditions among different regions, the large-scale agglomeration of population from the economically underdeveloped central and western regions to the economically advanced eastern region, become an inevitable phenomenon of economic development and an important practical issue. From the perspective of global economic development, the relationship between population agglomeration and regional economic growth is coupling, such as Tokyo Metropolitan Area,as the national political, cultural, economic center, the total population and density have been the forefront of the world, and the population more than 37 million,GDP more than 1.5 trillion dollars in 2015.Since the reform and opening, with the continuous improvement of China's openness, and the imbalanced development strategy of the eastern development priority, the interregional economic gap has been expanding. After the deregulation of the household registration system, the population has begun to gather in the economically advanced eastern part, and three metropolitan areas, the Yangtze River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, formed gradually,of which the Yangtze River Delta metropolitan area economic strength is the strongest and the most attractive, whose GDP in 2015 is up to 137967.9 billion yuan, accounting for 20.4%of the total GDP of the country, and the resident population is 159.3 million, accounting for 11.6% of the total population. The phenomenon of large-scale migration and agglomeration has great influence on the population distribution, industrial structure adjustment, regional economic development and regional economic strategy development.Based on the theory of regional economics, urban economics, spatial ecnomics and demography, this paper aims to explore the relationship between population agglomeration and regional economic growth, and explores its internal relationship and influence mechanism. And then analyzes the process of population migration and economic development in the provincial level, and analyzes the evolution direction and features of population concentration and economic development in the east, middle and west of China by the calculation of the geographic concentration rate, the geographical concentration index, and the imbalanced index(Jiang Zilong et al.,2014)from 2005 to 2015.The empirical study is based on the 16 core cities in the Yangtze River Delta.First, the calculate the JJD index of the 16 cities from 2006 to 2015,and analyze the population distribution and agglomeration degree, and then simulate the result by GIS software.Based on the panel data of 2005-215,the fixed effect model is established to explore the influence of the development process of population agglomeration on the regional economic growth in the core region of Yangtze River Delta from 2005 to 2015 through STATA system. Finally, through theoretical and empirical analysis,it is concluded that population agglomeration presents an inverted U-type to regional economic growth, that is,the population concentration in a certain extent can promote regional economic growth. If it exceeds a certain range, excessive agglomeration will negatively affect economic growth Impact. The Yangtze River Delta core 16 cities' population concentration has reached the inflection point, and it is the main direction of development that by industrial optimization and promotion promoting the entire Yangtze River Delta region common development, and narrowing the gap between regions in the future. In addition, the undeveloped periphery of the Yangtze River Delta, should give full play to geographical advantages, prepare for the industrial undertaking,to achieve industrial gradient transfer, ease the dual structure of urban and rural areas, narrow regional differences, and promote economic virtuous circle and sustainable development.
