A Study On The Social Adaptation Process Of Community Youth In Shanghai

As the population of community youth(this article refers to the out-of-school unemployed youth)increasing,more and more varieties of employment-supporting policies has set up in Shanghai to protect the rights of their lives.Basically every community and street have various forms of employment guidance agencies and professional employment aid workers.In such a social background,the employment situation of community youth has improved,but still not optimistic.So I take some community youth in a area of Shanghai as the main target of interviews,to study the whole process from their unemployment life to their employment status.Starting from the concept of Interview text,I find the main obstacles the community youth encountered in the process of social adaptation,the influencing factors in process of the adaptation to the society,also the available resources around community youth,which they can take advantage of.After presenting and analyzing the process from unemployment to employment status of the two community youth's cases completely,I made a summary of the key themes,the obstacles and difficulties from their experience,including interpersonal relationship,self cognition,psychology states,professional cognition,environmental adaptation,and so on.At the same time,through analyzing their main personal characteristics and the key problems which affect the changing process,I found some common influence factors in the Strengths Perspective that lead to the change process of community youth.The cross case analysis discuss this part elaborately.In the end,I found that three challenges the community youth mainly faced in the process of social adaptation are interpersonal adaptation,psychological adaptation and vocational adaptation.Furthermore,the study of the practice,the influence of the collective,individual reflection and support environment played a key role in this changing process.Also the personality traits and the resources of community are two advantages of bright spots of community youth they can take better use of.By constantly simulating various practical activities may exist in the process of social adaptation,community youth would have more opportunity to experience,learn and take self-reflection,which can release the individuality of their self better,excavate the self advantage resources,enhance the autonomy and motivation of work.In addition,the positive influence of the atmosphere among homogeneous groups could impel them to trust and accept people and stuff around,improve their self confidence and self-efficacy.With the support of the environment and family system of the community resources,they can have more opportunity to get along well with the social environment.In a word,their social adaptation ability of interpersonal relations,psychological adjustment,learning adaptation and career cognitive have improved to a certain extent in this process.
