International Comparative Research On The Training Mode Of Doctor Of Engineering

The countries in the world have reached an agreement that the science and technology is the important impetus to push forward the economy and develop the international competitiveness.For further developing the ability of technology innovation,the major developed countries in the world take the plan of fostering high level engineer as the important developing strategy in succession and develop their mature training mode of the Doctor of Engineering.Doctor of Engineering degree was established in 2011 in our country,we are trying to exploring its training mode.Comparatively speaking,USA and UK have accumulated rich experiences in this respect that we can use for reference.That is the reason why we study theirs.The paper used the system analysis method,literature research method and comparative analysis method.Starting with the study on the background and current situation,the paper study the English and American training mode of the Doctor of Engineering as the following four aspects: training objective;training process;organizational framework;the system of quality assurance.Then summarize their characteristics respectively.Based on that,finding the following common points: the need of engineering industry is the common background;fostering the leader of the engineering industry is its common objective;both accredit the degree programs of engineering doctorate and link the accreditation with the register of the professional engineer;both have comprehensive quality guarantee of the whole education process;both have the whole organizations with clear division of labor;both have multiple external main body for quality assurance,especially the unofficial body.Then finding the following differences between the two countries: having the different emphasis and flexibility of the training process;having the different mode of external quality assurance system;having the different breadth and depth of synergy training.Finally Compared with the English and American experiences and feature,the paper analyses the training mode in our country and finds the following problems: lacking of the depth of synergy and interdisciplinary training;the number of disciplines set up for Doctor of Engineering is too few;the main bodies for quality assurance are less multiple;the frame of organizations is less integrity,and so on.Based on analysis of the necessity and feasibility,the paper structured the training mode of Doctor of Engineering in our country in a comparative lens.
