The geographic key competence is an essential aspect of modern students'core qualities.Thus,cultivating the core qualities of students from high school has a significant meaning.At the basis of reading literature,the paper makes a conditional survey and analysis on three different types of high schools,like Changsha provincial key high school,city high school and general high school in the forms of questionnaire,finding that the whole performance level of high school students' core qualities remains low and the developing level of core qualities keeps unbalanced.The paper makes aware of the cultivating status of geographic key competence through the interviews to geography teachers,finding that present geography teachers know a little to the cultivating sense of geographic key competence,and its cultivating strength remains weak.At the core of the problems found in questionnaires and interviews,the corresponding cultivating countermeasures are put forward from the four aspects of the geographic key competence at the basis of its characteristics and meanings.Teachers can cultivate students'comprehensive thinking through helping students establish a comprehensive sense of thinking,integrated the training content of geography comprehensive thinking,use cases to improve regional comprehensive thinking;cultivate students' concept of people-and-place coordination through the penetration of this concept in activities of classroom and practice and tap the material in the textbook;create an open teaching environment by improving the concern on geography practice activities,and develop students' geographical practice ability by innovating forms of geographical activity;train students' regional cognition by enhancing students' ability to read maps and apply to the teaching methods of comparative regional environmental differences to deepen the application of information technology.The paper respectively design two teaching plans for applying to teaching for training Geographic key competence:The Influence of Geographical Environment on the Process of Urbanization,Regional Agricultural Sustainable Development,and makes reflection to teaching results.Furthermore,the papers puts forward suggestions on the cultivating teaching cases of geographic key competence according to the reflection teaching cases apply:teachers should teach in terms of practical situation,guide students research and study,integrate content of other subjects to explain knowledge,link cases in life to organize teaching content,and so forth.
