With the promulgation of the national medium and long-term education reform anddevelopment plan outline (2010-2020), and the implementation of the English curriculumstandard, field of English education in our country is carrying on the comprehensive anddetailed reforms. Based on the Contemporary Cognitive Learning theory, theory ofSystemic Functional Linguistics, Activity Teaching theories and Second LanguageAcquisition Research, the task-based language teaching is that the teacher guides thestudent to complete a series of tasks to learn a language teaching activities, whichadvocates the student-centered language learning and Its core idea is to mimic the behaviorof people in society using language to be engaged in all kinds of activities、in school life,and to combine the language teaching with learners’ language application in daily life inthe near future. Therefore the secondary vocational English course standard advocates thatthe secondary vocational school can adopt the task-based language teaching method in thereading teaching. In this paper, the secondary vocational English reading teaching adoptingthe task-based teaching method, emphasize the students’ initiative to participate in socialactivities, by using the target language to complete the task. In the process of completingthe task, students can get the language knowledge, improve the comprehensive languageusing ability, thus improve the level of secondary vocational English reading teaching.In this paper, there are five parts: the first part puts forward problems, discusses theresearch significance, the purpose of the research content and three studying methods; Thesecond part, from the perspective of the concept of task-based language teaching, discussesits theoretical basis and main characteristics, introduces related research at home andabroad and the related reading theory modes; The third part, according to the situation ofsecondary vocational English reading teaching, on the basis of the principle of the designof the task, select suitable task types for secondary vocational English, and design atask-based classroom mode, along with two teaching cases; The fourth part is the experimental design and analysis of experimental results. There are two parallel classesfrom Liao Cheng Children Normal School. The experiment lasted for a semester, duringwhich the author had a pretest, a posttest and a questionnaire, and then analyze the results;The fifth part, the conclusion including the main findings of this experiment, the teachershould pay attention to the implementing of task-based teaching problems, and putsforward some reasonable suggestions, further summarizes the deficiencies in thisexperiment.
