| With the development of global economic integration process, the unified communication language has become an indispensable condition. English as a common language of globalization, has attracted more and more people’s attention. This requires us students to improve our English listening speaking reading and writing skills so as to keep up with the pace of the times. English reading ability occupies a large proportion in the cultivation of English ability, so teachers and students have been making great efforts to improve students’ reading ability but with unsatisfactory results.The cause of this phenomenon is mainly because the teaching method is not suitable for the learning of students. Now the cramming method of teaching is still adopted by many teachers in China’s English classroom, resulting in the students’ lack of interest. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain remarkable results.In order to solve this problem, the teacher should find more suitable teaching method for the students in teaching reading. Different from the traditional spoon feeding pattern of reading teaching, the interactive teaching model focuses on the communication and interaction between students and teachers. The teacher can timely grasp students’ learning level, interests and specialties, character, background, etc, and thus he can stimulate students’ interest in learning by making use of their excellent background of knowledge. In this way,not only can he arouse students’ study initiative, but also he can enhance the students’ understanding of the reading, and they can also grasp the relevant methods in the process of reading. So this paper chooses the interactive reading model to prove the following hypotheses: firstly, the interactive reading model plays a promoting role in improving students’ scores; secondly, the interactive reading model helps to improve the students’ enthusiasm in English class.In this paper, the author chooses the first grade students at a senior high school in Dongyang City, Zhejiang Province, as the research object. Two classes are chosen in an arbitrary way: one as the experimental class taught by interactive reading model, and theother as the control class taught by traditional reading model.The main steps of the research are that the author evaluates the reading ability of the two classes through a comprehension test firstly and draws a conclusion of the English level of the two classes is equivalent by using the identical testing materials. Then, through a term’s cultivation, the author compares their reading ability by another comprehension test. The two classes’ pre and post test results showed that the interactive reading model improved students’ reading scores. In addition, the author observed and interviewed some students from the experimental class to investigate their reaction to the interactive reading model. At the same time, the author recorded the participation rate of the students in the class.A comparison was made between interactive reading model and traditional reading model activates for a term which gives rise to a conclusion that the former is in a better position to increase the students’ interest in English class. |
