Since the 1980 s,China's economy has made rapid development, and some large and medium-sized cities attract more and more rural surplus labor, but due to various constraints, they have to leave their children in the countryside, resulting in the phenomenon of rural left-behind children.I have taught in a rural high school for more than 10 years, and many of my students are left behind students,so I know the basic situation and problems of the left behind students. In Bandura's theory system, the most important one is the theory of self-efficacy.In Bandura's theory,self-efficacy is regarded as a specific mental state, which has direct and important influence on people's activities. Therefore,it is of great value to the regulation and control of human behavior.Self efficacy of students is an effective basis for judging the level of students' mental health. At present, there are a lot of research about left behind students, but the focus of the studies is mainly based on the left behind children's mental health problems and influencing factors or the left behind children's behavior problems and strategies, while the research about their self-efficacy is rare. The self-efficacy of rural left behind middle school students will directly affect and regulate their behavior,so it is very important to study the self-efficacy of left behind middle school students in rural areas. Therefore, this study hopes to investigate the basic situation of the left behind students' self-efficacy to find the problems,so as to improve their self-efficacy.This research mainly uses the literature review method, the questionnaire method and interview method. On the basis of the relevant review, investigate and understand the current situation of rural left behind middle school students' self-efficacy through the questionnaire survey method. This study uses the "general self-efficacy scale" to conduct a survey among 800 students from two junior high schools and two high schools in Sichuan Province,Qionglai City. And the following conclusions are drawn from the effective data processing: First, the self-efficacy of rural left behind middle school students is significantly lower than that of non left behind students. In the same grade, the scores of the general self-efficacy of non left behind junior high school students are significantly higher than that of the left behind junior high school students in the same grade.Second, there is a significant gender difference in the general self-efficacy of rural left behind middle school students.Third, the general self-efficacy of the rural left behind middle school students will be different because of different grades.the general self-efficacy of rural left behind high school students was significantly higher than that of rural left behind junior middle school students.Fourth, the rural left behind middle school students who live together with their parent peer relatives and friends have higher general self-efficacy.The rural left middle students' general self-efficacy decreases gradually as living with elder brother or sister, mother, father, grandpa or grandma. Those living alone have lowest general self-efficacy.Based on the above findings,I also put forward some suggestions, hoping that through these methods we can help improve their autonomous learning willingness and ability, and improve the left behind middle school students' self-efficacy.
