| Teachers’ informationized teaching ability is an important component of teachers’ professional ability,and it is also the core and foundation of teachers’ professional development under the IT social background.It is of great significance to improve teachers’ informationized teaching ability to improve their overall professional ability.English reading teaching in senior high school is an important part of English course in senior high schools.Improving teachers’ informationized teaching ability shall have great effect on teaching English reading in senior high schools.This paper investigates teachers’ informationized teaching ability of senior high school English teachers in five middle schools across Zhangzhou and Ningde cities,Fujian Province and explores the overall level of Teachers’ informationized teaching ability.It reveals teachers’ informationized teaching ability differences of three categories of high school English teachers,namely,the novice,the proficient and the expert teachers.Then discussion is made on the reasons of differences in the teaching of reading on the basis of the data of questionnaire and teachers’ interview.Through the investigation and research,the author finds the following results:1.The overall level of informationized teaching ability of high school English teachers in reading is not high enough;2.There are significant differences in informationized teaching ability among three categories of English teachers in English reading skills;3.Through the study,it is found that the reasons of the significant difference of informationized teaching ability among three categories of teachers are mainly caused by the following factors: pre-teaching academic background,the restraints of traditional teaching mode,teaching experience,family factors,age,mindsets,professional aspiration,and information-based ability literacy.It is hoped that through this research,the education departments can arouse the awareness of information technology in the teaching of senior high school English reading and improve the teachers’ informationized teaching ability,such as micro-training,multimedia application and courseware production.School should integrate the teacher’s team and bringtheir own capabilities into full play,so as to improve the overall teachers’ informationized teaching ability in the English reading teaching.For the majority of high school English teachers,through this study,the author hopes that they can improve the awareness of information technologies applied in high school English teaching and make more practice to develop their capability,so as to promote the effect of high school English reading teaching and teachers’ professional development. |
