An interesting programming software named Scratch,developed by MIT,became popular since 2007 aboard.Recent years Scratch has been introduced into technology information course of domestic primary and second class,which is greatly loved and welcomed by students and teachers.Scratch is gradually becoming a new way of learning IT.Due to its imagination-creation-sharing philosophy accords to the requirements of innovative education and country,many schools choose Scratch to cultivate and improve creative thinking and logical thinking in the IT class and additional course.The purpose of this thesis is to cultivate creative thinking and problem-solving skills of students by using Scratch to conduct a self-directed study.This paper is composed of six chapters.The first chapter introduces the background and confronting problems.By analyzing the current status,briefs the research aim,meaning and methods.The second chapter defines some critical theories and concepts including Scratch,creativity,creative thinking and problem-solving ability.The third chapter analyzes the advantages of Scratch in the primary school IT course and the instructional strategies.The fourth chapter is mainly about the preparation and implementation of teaching experiment of Scratch.By analyzing the characteristics of students to design teaching projects,which is mainly concerning the independent learning.The fifth chapter compares the grades of creative thinking,problem-solving ability and learning ability before and after the experiment and draw conclusions.The final chapter summaries the research achievement and reflects the inadequacies and looks into the future of the subsequent study.This study shows that based on inquiry teaching of Scratch,cultivates interests in learning IT,improves the ability of revealing and solving problems,diverges imagination and creativity.Through programming Scratch works,the self-efficacy,enthusiasm and initiative of students have been much enhanced.Helping each other,sharing the joy of success,exchanging learning experience,students gained much favorable learning effect.
